Gina and Mickey are the proud owners of Blue Pagoda and co-founders of Evolution Orchids, bringing decades of experience and passion for orchids to their thriving business in Englewood, Florida.
From Ohio to Florida: The Journey of Blue Pagoda
In June 2003, Gina and Mickey moved from Columbus, Ohio, to Englewood, Florida, to take over the Blue Pagoda & Evolution Orchids Shop. With their expertise and dedication, they’ve grown the business into a premier destination for orchids, floral arrangements, and wedding/event services.
- Gina Victor-Carnell holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University (1998) and an Elementary Education Teaching Certificate from Wright State University. After a brief career in education, Gina joined Mickey to embark on their orchid business adventure in Florida.
- Mickey Carnell graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Plant Health Management. His orchid expertise began during an internship focused on orchid propagation, eventually leading him to co-found Evolution Orchids, an orchid flasking business.
In May 2003, Gina, Mickey, and their partner packed up their lives in Ohio to bring their passion for orchids to Florida. By 2006, Mickey and Gina became the sole owners of Blue Pagoda, continuing to expand their offerings and build a reputation for excellence.

Over the past 20 years, Gina and Mickey have transformed Blue Pagoda into a flourishing business, recognized by the local Chamber of Commerce as the 2005 Small Business of the Year.
